A new book about a Las Vegas casino host spills the beans about the workings of the high-roller world.

Author Deke Castleman reveals rich details of the life of casino host Steve Cyr and his big-name clients in Whale Hunt in the Desert, which hits newsstands this month.

The book from Huntington Press exposes the habits of high rollers such as Kerry Packer, Michael Jordan and Larry Flynt.

Chapter 17 offers details about Packer being 86'd from the MGM Grand in 1995 after winning a reported $26 million and his reported $130,000 tip to a cocktail waitress.

One of my favorite stories: The 21-year-old grandson of a billionaire oilman goes on a gambling binge after Cyr gives him
$400,000 in credit. The kid loses it within weeks. He paid off $240,000 before going into drug rehab.

A well-known actor who was hired to be the kid's sobriety coach asked Cyr to retire the debt. Even the family rabbi called.

In the end, the kid's mother sold his car and other possessions to pay the debt.
